Soul Presence: Sunrise Over New Plymouth

The dawn is a special time of day for me. Of course, as a photographer, dawn and dusk are the magic times of day when the soft touch of the low lying sun brings colour to life but its more than that. When I watch the sun rise I feel some other level of awareness growing within me, an inner expansiveness as if the sun is somehow rising within me.

These photos of the sun rising over New Plymouth were taken from Paritutu on Easter Sunday. Paritutu rock is one of my favorite places to watch both the sunrise and sunset.

Soul Presence

Becoming aware of your own soul
is like watching a sunrise,
first there’s a golden glow
spreading out over the horizon
pushing the night away.

Then, just as the colours seem to be fading,
the tip of that glowing orb the sun
appears over the eastern hills
climbing up into the sky
becoming too bright to even look at.

The whole landscape suddenly brought to life
as this light clears all the shadows
from the low valleys of your life.

But here’s the difference, we all know
that the sun sets again every night,
but the beauty of your own soul,
once risen into your awareness, never sets.

A silent field of energy expanding within,
a light that guides you leading you always
deeper into the field of love.
